About Friends of Castle Green

Friends of Castle Green CIC is run by a Board of volunteer directors, all from the local community, with a wide variety of backgrounds and skills. With a membership of hundreds from the local area and further afield, and a wonderful team of volunteers we are able to respond to community needs at a local level.

Founded in 2008, FoCG has developed into a well respected and active community group.

Our aim is to protect and enhance the wonderful historic area of Castle Green in Hereford for future generations.

In 2018 FoCG took over the former art college and council training centre for community use, renaming the building The Castle Green Pavilion. This building has recently been completely refurbished and is available for hire. It is also home to the Hereford Youth Canoe Centre.

In early 2024 we took over the former Bowling Club and Green, renaming it the Club House at Castle Green. We are now undergoing community consultation to find a permanent use for the building and grounds. In the meantime, the Club House is available to hire at very reasonable rates.

Our mission statement:

A park for people; where LIFE in Hereford Gathers

Local – Run by the community for the community

Inclusive – Welcoming and accessible for all

Friendly – Warm and slightly quirky!

Enabling – Facilitating partnerships

FoCG’s aim is to focus on developing a successful future for the Pavilion and Club House, whilst encouraging more use of the park and developing community partnerships that facilitate this.
